Welcome to the E8/NICD Malaria Proficiency Testing Scheme

The Southern Africa Malaria Elimination Eight Initiative Secretariat (E8) awarded a contract to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases to start a malaria slide bank for the Elimination 8 countries (Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe). This is one of the activities aimed at strengthening the quality of malaria diagnosis in these countries. The slides prepared will be used primarily for training and proficiency testing. As an addendum to the slide bank project, the E8 requested that a closed PT scheme be initiated for the E8 countries (i.e. it will be restricted to a selected number of laboratories in the E8
